eBay FYI - June 2018

I've stopped selling on eBay in spite of my good rating. This is why I have this page as an outlet for excess items. These are mine and others experiences.

If a buyer says the item doesn't match the description or "it doesn't work", you have to take it back regardless of the truth. All of my listings have stated "if there is damage, file the claim with the post office", but no, I have to pay postage to have the item returned. This happened when somehow some item I shipped got smashed to smithereens. They wanted to return it, as if I had some use for it in that conditiion; but no, they then elevated their claim to eBay as not maching the description which was a damned lie since was the exact original item pictured in my catalog. I told eBay I refused to take it back and all they had to do was file the claim there. No, eBay issued the return postage and debited my account. When the item came back I sent the original pictures from the customer to the post office and I filed an online claim. Took five minutes. I had a check within a week. EBay can go f*** themselves........ right out of business! It's just a bunch of greedy hucksters which happens every damned time Wall Street gets their hooks into any company.

I had two other returns and the feeble minded used that same "it doesn't work" argument. I took them back. Both will be displayed and ran at the upcoming San Joaquin County Fair in mid June.

Don't get me wrong. I'm in the business of delivering what I advertise.

From one of my consituents:

(I'm not alone in my criticisms of eBay)

The latest “improvement” from the geniuses that run eBay:

You can no longer view an ended auction. I am always going back to see what things brought without using the so-called watch list. You can’t do that anymore. If you try to open an ended auction page, eBay immediately takes you to a random item they think you might like. It’s outrageous and very frustrating. If there is a way to shut that little ‘feature’ off I would sure like to know about it.

EBay wants to be Amazon. The problem is that is not who they are. Yep. They wanna be Amazon. Interesting that they don’t reveal the cost of every new “service” to the seller. Looks like a way to trap sellers into getting negative feedback, and that can cost you the few perks eBay gives sellers. Hmmm . . . maybe that’s what eBay wants?

A significant portion of the negative feedback I see out there is from jerks that seem to think their item should arrive the day after it was purchased. I just saw a seller who got negative feedback for late shipping on an item that he sold for a whopping $1.66. Yes, eBay says they will stand the cost of late shipping and remove negative feedback, but if you have to talk to a real person to get those issues resolved, well . . . good luck with that. As for negative feedback to sellers, it always seems that the little purchases (less than $10) represent a large percentage of negative feedback. One wonders if it has to do with the mentality of the buyers?

EBay is an increasingly tough place to sell things. This is why I quit. The profit margins are small and the aggravation is high.

What was really bad was the Koreans. They have their items sent to an ‘agent’ here in the USA and they ship it on to Korea. My guess is that this evades the custom charges. However, the postal insurance ends when they deliver the parcel and there was no insurance covering the item once the agent took possession, but eBay doesn’t care. There position is: “no unhappy buyers.” and to hell with the sellers.

Thank you for your support, Bob.

Now do you understand what sellers are going through?
